In the autumn of 2015, while studying Freud’s theories in the mornings at Université Paris Sorbonne Nord and discussing cultural differences with my Erasmus+ friends in the afternoons, the Paris terrorist attacks occurred. Fortunately, I wasn’t in the city that weekend, but in the weeks that followed, I experienced recurring nightmares and a fear of crowds. This experience led me to develop an interest in trauma and neuropsychology, and how personal experiences can change the structure of our brain and its connexions.
After completing an internship in the Neurology Department at Son Espases Hospital and refusing to have a bad Erasmus+ experience, I moved to Scotland. There, I researched and deepened my knowledge of neuropsychology at The University of Edinburgh, one of the world’s top universities. From the research I carried out, I developed my final undergraduate dissertation, which was awarded the best dissertation in the School of Psychology by the “Consell Social” of my hometown university. Needless to say, this second Erasmus+ experience was one of the best experiences of my life.
Upon completing my degree, I felt I still needed to further my knowledge in order to treat people efficiently and provide a high-quality service. That’s why I decided to move to Madrid to prepare for the PIR access exam (a clinical psychology residency). This preparation allowed me to delve deeply into psychological assessments and interventions, psychotherapies, psychobiology, and social psychology, among other areas. After several years of intensive preparation and with a solid foundation of knowledge, I decided to redirect my career and began working as a psychologist, attending adults in a private clinic and children and teenagers in a British school.
Since then, I have continued to train and gain professional experience with different populations. Nowadays, I can say that I love my job and being able to help people improve their well-being. If you don’t find me working, I’m probably reading, studying, traveling, or working out. Would you like to have a chat?
